CARE

In order to maintain the exceptional features of functional laminates Pertex® Shield for as long as possible, please take care of your product according to the following instructions and recommendations. If you follow them, Pertex® Shield products will be functioning fully for a long time.

Don't worry about more frequent washing, sometimes insufficient maintenance can lead to reduced functionality due to long-term exposure to sweat, antiperspirants, creams, etc. It is better to wash clothes more often with less detergent.

MAIN SIGNS WHEN IT IS GOOD TO WASH YOUR CLOTHING OR RESTORE DWR

  • Have you been involved in a multi-day hike or have you been performing an intense activity in your clothes, during which you sweated? Wash clothing according to the instructions to wash away sweat and grease from the membrane.
  • Is your clothing obviously dirty, dusty, smeared with dirt…? Wash clothing according to instructions.
  • Have you noticed that the fabric is no longer as water-repellent on the outside as when the garment was new? Does the water not drain, but it soaks into the top fabric? After washing, put the jacket in the dryer according to the instructions or iron it at max. 110 ° C.
  • If ironing does not help, see point 2, the DWR surface is probably already very damaged and needs to be restored with spray. Follow the instructions on the product and use only the impregnations intended for this purpose.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Use a classic gentle program in the washing machine or wash by hand.
  • We recommend washing membrane clothing separately from other garments and, if possible, individually.
  • When washing in the washing machine, everything that could mechanically damage the material must be removed.
  • Beware of forgotten things in your pockets or other things washed at the same time.
  • Fasten all velcro on the garment properly.
  • Set the temperature to a maximum of 40 ° C, do not rely on your subjective feeling to determine it.
  • For washing, use only liquid detergents designed for these materials. We recommend detergents
Fibertec PRO WASH or Atsko SPORT WASH
  • Under no circumstances add any other additives such as fabric softener, bleach or ordinary detergents!
  • Do not dry clean!
  • Do not wring!
  • After washing, clothes must be rinsed thoroughly to wash away even the smallest residues of detergents and dirt.
  • After washing, remove the clothes immediately and start drying loosely hung on a hanger in partial shade, or use the dryer for a gentle program up to 60 ° C.

    WATER REPELLENCY RESTORATION

All Pertex® Shield materials have a DWR (durable water repellent) surface treatment applied at the factory, which creates a water-repellent layer on the fabric surface that prevents water from entering thefabric.
The correct function of DWR is determined by the formation of droplets on the surface, which run down the fabric and do not soak.
By using the product, the effectiveness of the water-repellent protective layer decreases and the water starts to absorb. In such a situation, the user may feel damp and get the impression that water is leaking into the jacket, even though it is not really true.
At the same time, the breathability of the laminate is reduced. It is therefore important to keep the water repellency in good condition, which is not difficult and can be achieved easily, using products designed for this purpose. To restore water repellency, we recommend using, for example, Fibertec Textile Guard or Atsko Permanent water-guard .

    Important warning:

Do not wring membrane clothing or attempt to remove water by twisting. This can permanently damage the garment. Allow water to drip from the hanging clothes and dry them hung at room temperature.
Do not dry in direct sunlight. Do not leave wet clothing folded unnecessarily for a long time.
